Do you have the ability to find that single ray of hope on an otherwise cloudy day? Have you ever wallowed in the muck of life like a bacony-pensive pig dreaming of better days to come?
So recently we jigsawed our way into Dallas while a thunderstorm passed over the airport. I peered out of the portal into a roiling sea of clouds. A vast swath of grayish-white cumulus congestus stretched up to a huge tidal-wave-wall of nebula rising majestically miles away. I thought,
“There are no words to capture the beauty. Not even a photograph would do justice to the grandeur billowing just outside my tiny window to the world.”
You see I had been through a divorce. I lived through betrayal and deep emotional anguish. At my lowest point, I clung to the hope that the storm would eventually break and I would find sure footing again. That I might uncover the silver lining to the whole damn thing.
And in that moment, drinking in the sublimity of the inverted ocean out my window, a deep well of emotion, of happiness, washed over me and I suddenly realized I had emerged on the other side.
Have you experienced cloudy times?
Did you find your silver lining and emerge on the other side the better for it?
Do you know who Tim Linecum is?

Naughty Jester | May 28th, 2009, 7:47 pmGiant’s Pitcher. Talk about a need for a silver lining. I think I tend to find silver linings, though like everyone I can be negative at times. I like to think I’m optimistic. I’ve been through the storms, but even storms can be enjoyed (or appreciated). Trials make us better (how’s that for silver lining?).

yes, giants pitcher … and trials do make us better (unless we’re OJ)
